As President of the VHOA, I could rally hundreds of people to go to Los Angeles City Hall hearings. We were formidable.
Yet the very important lesson learned is that our officials do want to serve their constituents and they are looking for solutions to complex problems.Back then, the City of Los Angels was home to tens of thousands of heads of horses, making Los Angeles home to the densest populations of horses in the country. Equestrian leaders estimated those numbers.
We also also researched and analyzed that the equine industry and all peripheral "horse" amenity businesses were a 40 Billion Dollar business in the US, in the mid 2000s..
